Appointments and Consultations

Whether you are covered by medical insurance or paying privately, Mr Kumar offers prompt access to specialist care with most patients seen within 3 to 5 working days.

Your consultation

Please contact your insurer before your consultation to obtain pre-authorisation. Mr Kumar is recognised by all major medical insurers including BUPA, AXA, Aviva, Vitality and WPA.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive details to share with your insurer. A GP referral letter is usually required by your insurer prior to your appointment.

Self-Pay Patients

No GP referral is required for a self-pay private consultation. Our team will take the necessary information from you before confirming your appointment.

Fixed, transparent fees are provided upfront with no hidden costs. A full cost estimate for any investigation or procedure will be discussed before you commit to treatment.

What Happens at Your Appointment

1

Medical History Review

Mr Kumar will take a detailed history of your symptoms, their duration and any relevant past medical or surgical history. Please bring any previous letters, scan reports or blood test results with you.

2

Clinical Examination

A focused clinical examination will be carried out in a private consulting room. A chaperone can be present during the examination if you wish. Please request this when booking your appointment.

3

Discussion and Plan

Mr Kumar will explain his findings clearly and discuss the most appropriate next steps, whether that is further investigations, a non-surgical approach, or surgical treatment. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and all options will be explained in full.

4

Follow-Up and Communication

A clinic letter summarising your consultation and agreed plan will be sent to you and your GP. If investigations are arranged, results will be communicated promptly with a clear explanation of what they mean.

All consultations are conducted by Mr Kumar personally, not by a junior doctor or registrar. You will receive his full, undivided attention at every appointment.

Second Opinions

If you are seeking a second opinion, Mr Kumar is happy to review your case and previous medical records. Where appropriate, your case may be discussed at a Specialist Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (SMDT) to provide a comprehensive expert opinion. The outcome will be communicated to your referring doctor and to you directly.

To ensure a thorough assessment, please bring or arrange to have sent any relevant clinic letters, imaging reports, scan images and histology results prior to your appointment.
